problem still exists. I have moved the HD in question to another
computer where it was able to be seen and examined by the Disk
Utility as having no faults yet when placed back in it's home
computer it is not being seen

Power Point (in Office 2004) always, and other applications, on
occasion, will not release files when they are closed. The only way
to make it let go is to quit Power Point.
Is there an explanation and a fix?

LaCie have just brought out some interesting external portable drives with a
fingerprint reader built in,...which is quite a good idea for important
files.

Pricing is $299 for a 40GB drive
that none of these printers have Ethernet built in and would
require some form of EtherTalk print server. Assuming you could get
them working in the first place :)
