Bee, I was in Mt.Airy in late June and went to Wally's Fillin Station for a
squad car tour of town. They had five squad cars and each was a Ford. I think
they ranged from 1961-65. We toured with Melvin in the '64 and had a great

Could be Mayberry Squad Cars in North Carolina get away with having red
lights on them is because NC police use blue lights. Red lights are for fire
engines and EMS and a Mayberry car does not resemble either of them!!

Once in a while, the cast or crew would be asked to park their own cars on the
backlot when a scene required more than the usualy number of cars. Probably 99%
of the cars on The Show were Ford products, but in addition to Howard's Chevy
we also saw Jim Lindsey's Mercedes, the gove

Galaxie 300 (plain jane) cars
every year around August -Sept. (when new model years are out) these
were delivered by
the local dealership there in California, and the old 2 were

A lot of early TV shows and even movies would removed windshields from the cars
due to reflections and glare of the glass when filming. They also liked to
remove the rear view mirrors a lot from cars when filming.
The Danny Thomas thing was the most obvious one I think I have ever seen tho

I know in Barney's first car he was pretty smart about cars. He was the 1 who
told Barney about the sawdust in the transmission.I also noticed this about
