I used a RasPi4 2.6.0 rc1 and a FTDI to control my 1996 ft1000mp with a USB audio dongle for field day. The RadPi4 was headless using No Machine so I could operate remotely from the TV room with my Android phone or laptop. FTDI has less problems especially with some other software works very well

The FT-991 is one that doesn't have the ability to query which VFO is active and doesn't have the ability to query "current VFO" either. Since we allow currVFO to pass through to the Icoms it's also now passing through to all rigs.   So it seems the only choice here would be to set the current VF
