the ASF got contributors, or the ASF, sued then the ASF would be on its
knees. It isn't. Rather, the ASF prospers by the efforts of its contributors
who take the time to make a difference. Both commercial organisations and
private individuals benefit from the freedom the ASF license gives, with due
acknowledgement, to leverage these contributions.
