But that's just it; it's closer to what the Web is. And anybody doing
business these days will automatically have more to go on by that fact
alone than any SOA pandering you'll ever dream up.

Why not?

No it isn't. Lots of systems are sold on the basis of being on the
web, and interacting with it. "The web" has great value all in and of
itself, while SOA needs lots of brochures and presentations to make
any sense.
