Hi Tom,

I think you are well on your way. You have the hosel weight port in
which 9g can be added and if all the hosels are deep enough to also
allow use of your new 9g tungsten tip weight, then you have 18g of
maximum adjustment, which should be enough for just about any length and
shaft weight combination.

Is my understanding correct that the 919CCG line will eventually be
going to the GRT face, once you clear out some of the current inventory?
The current 919CCG high launch (13ยบ) is a very fine head, perhaps my
favorite in your line. Adding the GRT to it, would be the only
significant improvement I can think of.

ED/DAVE:

I moved all driver headweights in our line to 200g up from 196g in 2004.
All of these heads do have my weight bore through which you can add
another 9 grams if required to hit whatever swingweight/MOI that you may
be seeking. We have had a 14 deg loft driver in the 915 line since
summer 2003, a 13 loft in the 919CCG driver line since 2004, and this
year we added on larger 915 driver models in 13 and 15 lofts, since the
original 915 14 deg driver was "only" a 360cc volume/size. The no roll
face design or rather GRT face as we call it, started on the 515GRT
drivers in early 2004, and has been subsequently incorporated into all
the 915CFE drivers, as well as the 949G/Ti driver which came out in mid
2004. The 515GRT fairways which are the first 3 and 5 wood to hit the
0.830 COR limit, were intro'd in Oct of 2004 with 0 roll.

So I think that I have provided what I spoke about in the book and plan
for more things along this line in future model developments as well.

TOM

Dave,
Good observation about Tom's 2005 offerings. In fact, that is one of
the reasons I believe his book is so valuable. Here he is recommending
clubheads/clubs that he doesn't make. Is there any other company/person
that would be so honest and give you the straight facts?

FWIW - I'm strictly guessing that his new designs for 2006 will have
filled in many of the "gaps" between the book's recommendations and his
product line.

Here's something interesting. If you read Tom Wishon's new book -- or
even read his postings -- there are some things that he would like to
see done about drivers:
 * Shorter clubs, implying the high-weight head you mention.
 * Higher lofts.
 * No roll curvature (or at least "graded" roll).
I also believe he feels that the big heads make the club more forgiving.

I looked at his driver head offerings early this year, before I made my
current driver. Unfortunately, I can't find more than one of these
features on any head.
