Some good ideas above. I would rather see veteran entrepreneur's over short-term gain in any way because the experience (no matter how little) benefits the ecosystem. I've been involved in enough things in the past to know that it takes long term execution to make something worthwhile. A weekend project is literally a "start", and without followup support and attention, this discussion is irrelevant because it is likely to die.
The whole exit thing is an interesting issue, and these different models are part of the learning process. Open source business models; selling them over eBay; adjustings equity stake subsequently due to time involvement; putting IP to a common foundation. All good ideas, I don't see why not pursue them all and let teams choose which "exit".
