Silky, I think one of Australia's problems is that we have both a
"tall-poppy" syndrome and a culture that punishes failure.
For me, these are a great way to change that thinking from the grass-roots.
 To make a point that no endevour is a true waste - and that every
collaboration, idea or effort has merit - because you ultimately learn more
from "mistakes" or things you throw away.  Not everything people touch turns
to gold.  This is about the experience, challenging conventional wisdom and
connecting with like-minded people.

I think your comments here, about this are shortsighted and completely
missing the point.

If, its not for you thats fine - don't turn up - you'd provide no value to
the effort with this one dimensional thinking anyway.
