Thanks Dee, he started feeling better yesterday! I am not sure of the reason
the leafy greens were listed as being culprit in one of the 3 catagories of
types of stones. However, I do know that spinach for those of us that feed raw
diets to our dogs and cats, is not recommended as a food to feed very often.
The reason there is that it can leach calcium from their bones. Maybe someone
else can clairfy there if it's the same for humans. Oh..that reminds me that I
wanted to post to this group, to ask if EIS will in anyway help strenghten
bones.

I am amazed at this! We are being constantly told to eat *loads* of
leafy green vegetables, and here we are being told that they can cause kidney
stones! What is the truth? I suppose the old adage of moderation would apply,
but it is surprising, none the less. Dee PS I do hope your poor husband is
better soon Lin and I'm sure the good wishes of the group go out to him.

My poor husband has just been through 2 weeks of misery from one kidney
stone that was lodged just an inch from dropping into the bladder. We've spent
4 nights in the ER, with complications from dehydration, vomiting and
diarreaha. We've learned much about this problem during this episode. There
are 3 types of typical kidney stones and each is unique in what it is composed
of. Having a lab analyze your stone is a big plus to knowing how to prevent
them for you in the future. There are many foods and meds that contribute to
the formation of stones. Of course plenty of fresh water helps in all cases.
We were very surprised when a hospital nurse showed us a list of several
"culprits" for a specific type of stone. Dark leafy green veggies and brewed
tea were high on the list for one of the three types of stones!
