It should be called the Uncomplimentary Centre for Alternative Medicine, (not the NCCAM.) You cant trust it just because its a government site.

There's too much rubbish there to go into fully but heres an example of how misleading that site is.

(Quote). "Other side effects from using colloidal silver products may include neurologic problems (such as seizures), kidney damage, stomach distress, headaches, fatigue, and skin irritation. Colloidal silver may interfere with the body's absorption of the following drugs: penacillamine, quinolones, tetracyclines, and thyroxine. 5" (end quote)

If you look into reference 5, like I have, by purchasing a subscription to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, you'll find these claims of side effects have almost no credibility.

The first sentence, re neurologic problems etc, is based on the THEORY that CS may cause the same symptoms as metal fume fever, a sickness Welders suffer from when they inhale lungfulls of toxic zinc fumes when welding galvanised iron.

The second sentence, re interference with other drugs, is also theoretical. In fact, from memory, I think the risk is described as THEORETICAL AND MINIMAL.

There are no credible references for colloidal silver having any side effects other than argyria. And we know how to avoid that.

You must never simply trust a statement simply because it ends with a reference number. You have to find the reference, read it fully, then read the references that the reference refers to. In the case of CS, you usually quickly discover that the trail just fizzles out into nothing and theres no reliable research that proves anything concerning colloidal silver, certainly not the relatively 'weak' CS that most of us drink.

The TGA over here (our FDA) puts references numbers at the end of sentences that have nothing to do with some of the claims they make. It's quite deceptive.

Subject: CS>How do I defend CS against this website?

I mentioned on a hep c group that I take CS and they posted this link:
http://nccam.nih.gov/health/alerts/silver/#c

I know most of it isn't true. How can I show them?
