-Beg to differ there. Praps not where you are. You may live in the perfect
world but there's plenty of others that DON'T.

> You aren't NEARLY as helpless as you believe you are.

-As an *individual* I agree wholeheartedly.

> Go to the freekin farmers market and meet those that grew it and make
> stuff THEY want to eat.

-Err...that would be location dependant? I spose I could develop a taste for
saltbush and gum leaves if I HAD to, plenty of pepper and tomato sauce might do
it. Road kill would be OK...if it's fresh enough, but then I spose I could
spray it with silver. By the way, our illustrious little roofing nail "Howard"
disarmed the population a while ago {or tried to} so I can't go out bunny or
roo shooting anymore as I used to, {not without a permit and property holder
permission anyway...I think?} traps were made illegal by the "don't hurt the
poor little animals" fraternity so I need to develop more ingenious ways of
bypassing the system in search of alternative meat supply....and Yep, I can do
that no problem, vegies are out though I'm afraid cos I don't live within cooee
of veg producers. I could grow my own...IF I could afford to pay the water
bill! When the Chinese take over this piece of dirt we'll have all the fruit
and veg we want cos the first thing THEY would do is get water EVERYWHERE {my
opinion}.

> If you went there instead of the grocery store, they would BE the grocery
> store.

-Don't worry, I'd be the first there...if we had any. I used to, but as
numbers of customers decreased {supermarkets bulk buying power to cut everyones
throats to get the monopoly market share}...so did those little corner shops
until...you guessed it, they ain't there anymore! So now I'm pretty much
DICTATED wouldn't you say?

> You the consumer are in total and absolute control.

-Absolutely, and I guess there are many individuals like me who DO attempt some
form of control, but the best form of control is strength in numbers. If
*numbers* of consumers were smart enough to go along {or is that NOT go along}
then we could screw the Corporation, BUT...there needs to be somewhere else to
go in the interim! We need to work more as a 'collective?' not sure if that's
the right word? At the moment it's the Corporation who is in control. In most
circumstances, by and large, there is simply NOWHERE else to go. You're right,
we COULD get control, but I'm afraid in the REAL world that may not be entirely
possible in the broad perspective...Not to mention governments which can only
see as far as the next election, and aren't tall enough to see over the top
rail of their own little pig pens while their snouts are in the trough, and
sharing the same bed as the ferrit. I'm still 'confident?', well hopeful
anyway, that this global enonomy business has still got some distance to travel
in a downward direction. It's not an economic crisis, it's a depression, but a
depression in 21st century form, give it a little more time...sanity may return
to our little 'civilization?'.

-You're joking right? Good one, I love a sense of humour. You can shout that
from the rooftops til you're 'blue?' in the face, but it'll fall on deaf ears
here. Let's not forget the shareholders though. Don't care how long the line
is with fingers in pockets, the producer gets a pittance for the produce, and
who knows how many other parasites are gorging themselves along the way before
it finally hits the shelves. I believe it's called 'regulation', producers
can't sell directly unless it's deemed fit for sale by some beauroctatic board
or such as far as I know. If I wanted to get a sheep direct from the farmer to
slap some chops on the barbie it's illegal...that sheep MUST be taken to and
slaughtered at an abatoir and have that little red 'stamp' of authority put on
it before I can take it home and cut it up for that barbie...is that insane or
what?

-Are you talking about supermarkets here? I'll assume you are, as an
observation I've noticed some changes in our supermarket...shelves don't seem
to be full or overflowing anymore as they once were, and some are empty, I take
that as a GREAT sign that people are finally starting to smarten up, the
Corporation may be feeling the pinch, or it COULD be that now they have control
they can DICTATE terms to make us more DEPENDANT. The longer this economic
crisis BS goes on the better chance there will be for bringing the corporation
to its knees...means tuff times ahead praps, but bring it on is all I can say,
praps we may get some sanity back into things. I keep telling people "where
the hell will you go to get meat fruit and veg IF something happens to those
Corporations? Can't you see how desperate things would get if that happened?"
But as in all things, just seems to fall on deaf ears, while there's food in
the belly *NOW* they don't get it.

We need a revolution, or a depression, I don't care which comes first. As I
think I said earlier, I can see the day when some will actually KILL for
quality food. If that sounds ridiculous or science fiction...then let's wait
and see...There IS a breaking point!
