I just had a thought about this. My dog (German Shepherd) periodically gets
demodectic mange. This results in his getting weepy sores in isolated spots.
I treat this using a mix of Thornit (iodine powder) and olive oil, which I
paste thickly over the affected area. Now the hair disappears in these spots
and the skin goes grey. This only lasts a couple of weeks then is gone. When
the hair grows back fully, the skin goes pink again. Maybe there is a similar
mechanism happening in Carols case. dee
