I just had a friend have her email addresses stolen and I suspect it was
through Yahoo groups as they sent out an email to the list saying she was
stranded and asking for money to be wired to England! Over my tenure with
them Yahoo has had a lot of problems including going down and losing all the
archives...

With all due respect, you don't understand the reasons for the list being
the way it is. Mike D hasn't made this choice lightly, and I for one
stand firmly behind the decision. Just one reason alone is enough: He
(the list owner) has been adamant about no one being able to mine email
addresses and this solution provides that.
He will state this more elegantly than I, but what you don't know can hurt
you...and it would seem you don't understand many of the reasons *not* to
use yahoogroups.

I wish our great list owner, Mike D., would consider yahoogroups (also
called egroups.com). So simple to hunt for info. and I could be reading
from that NEW site vs. getting digest or single mail. Not sure if I have
that option for eskimo!!
I know list owner is not crazy, but may be perhaps stubborn or doesn't
know how to open a yahoo account. Mike, I'm not super geeky but I am
glad to help you as best I can. I bet we have geeks here that know a
lot. I propose keep archives where it is presently, close off archives
and open same list with same name at Yahoo from here forward. How about
it?
Thanks list owner!
