doing Atkins does not require eating red meat, or portk, or for that matter
any meat.  There are many vegetarians doing Atkins.  There are other forms
of protein other than meat.  And as far as doing "Atkins" as he wrote it, he
strongly encourages eating only healthfull natural organically raised meat,
no processed foods, additives, etc.  He did of course approve of meat
eating, but it isn't required.  And, there is a HUGE difference between meat
in a diet with low carbs and no high processed carbs, as opposed to a diet
with meat and high carbs.    Few studies have been done showing the
difference yet, but people with acidic problems then doing atkins, or
similar program, limiting carbs and especially high processed carbs and
foods, end up with balanced ph.  That is anecdotal, but there is an
increasing body of such anecdotal information.  Joy
