I am not current with Urban Legends, but in the past, I have had the suspicion that they are a mixed bag; some good information and some non-well-motivated debunking.
It is a well known technique to kill dogs by setting out a bowl of auto anti-freeze. It tastes sweet. I think the same stuff is used in small amounts in ice cream. P&G spin doctors attempted to disarm this report but failed in the eyes of those who know how to read the required disclosures on the MSDS.
