I know some of you guys get your internet access from BigPong
Direct, ie permanent modem for $500 setup and 19c/Mb.
Two questions:
1) can you use telstra's news-server? or do they only provide
a newsfeed to a news-server you run? this is for work here
and we don't want to run our own news-server, it would be
more convenient just to point a newsreader at the telstra server.
2) I know there's a few people with a permanent modem link, but
according the person I spoke to at BPD it's the same 19c/Mb
for ISDN access too, and even the same $500 setup cost too
(special until end of Jan then it goes back to the normal $1000).
Of course we'd still have to pay the line costs ($225pm) but
we'd have to pay that for ISDN whichever ISP we chose.
Does anyone here have an ISDN link to them? what's it like?
(pity there's no cable in our area cos that'd be good - I even
checked North Ryde cos we'll be moving there sometime soonish but
apparently there's no cable in roads like Talavera Rd either)
Thanks,
Dave.
