Hmm, seems being in the burbs has one benefit - they will bring extra
cable in. Adding two extra lines to my place took up all the
sparelines, so they brought extra cable into the street (next door
wanted a fax line). When lines 4&5 were wanted, they were also all
copper.

I've since found that all five lines actually traverse new cable/route
to the exchange and we no longer cross the hill that attracts
lightning (was averaging 1 fried modem/year).

I suspect that the bottom line really depends on what they have in
your area. I have a pillar at each end of my street and I suspect they
are different exchange feed cables to each, so they have been able to
swap houses from one to the other as one fills up (it has a school and
small shopping centre off it).

I know when lines 4&5 were requested, they wanted me to take duet
service, but no-way, so I received copper. I do not know if they will
be so reasonable now.
