Our business name won't be money, it will be money.com.au thus
effectively bypassing any complaints that Money may have.

We feel that with our registered business name of money.com.au, the
only way we can not win is for MelbourneIT to make the claim that we
are not entitled to a domain name at all. Their own rules state that
the reuqested domain name MUST be a direct dirivitive of the registered
business name or person's name, and as there are very few dirivitives
available from money.com.au, their hands are tied.
When Robert Els was away on holidays and a couple of generic domain
names were registered, he had the power to revoke that registration,
just like he had with f*ck.com.au. What made the difference between
news.com.au and f*ck.com.au? Both had already started being used when
the opportunity arose to remove them, why did news.com.au not get
revoked yet f*ck.com.au did?
While some people may claim that we are merely whingers, we are not
doing this _just_ to prove a point and get our way. We intend to
develop money.com.au into a financial portal for Australia, and that is
something which can succeed.
While MelbourneIT has some very good guidlines for domain
registrations (such as being required to show ownership of the name),
other policies they have are not as well thought out. The registration
of generic names and place names are both two policies badly thought
out. We are hoping to bring these policies to the public's attention
and have MelbourneIT change those policies......such sweeping
generalisations do nothing to assist Australia in the world.
