Yes the PoE Outdoor runs off the supplied 48V power adapter to be 802.3af compliant for the entire 100 meter range. All our future products will be 802.3af compliant.
The PoE Outdoor unit has a CPU to measure the cable length and adjust the output voltage, detect shorts/open and moisture in the cable etc. And it will adjust the output voltage to properly power the current smartBridges "classic" devices. The current classic devices have a built-in voltage regulator and hence a very wide operating range.
