I don't know about the technicalities of the issue, but for what it's
worth I would never use BT for anything again as the customer service
and technical support I got when I had my phone line and broadband
through them a few years back was beyond atrocious.  Hopefully they've
turned things around since then but I know quite a few other people
who've had a bad experience so it might be worth looking into this
side of things as well.
