It's true that BT's firewalls block SMTP without SSL, if you just enable SSL in your mail settings then you'll be able to use any SMTP server you have a username & password for.
I'd say Infinity's the first thing BT's done right, though I don't know long that'll last once more people start using it. We've not had any downtime in the last year.
