Hi Stoyan,
thanks for your reply again. Yes you are right . The last night I managed to update my OS.
I used the "interactive installation" method and I chose "custom installation"
I then removed any demo files and unnecessary fonts I didn't want, Java 1.2 (kept java 1.3), CDE SDK and this seems to free enough space for it.
One other thing I did differently was that I had a new file system monuted on /export and I think, from the messages, it might of been trying to use /export?
Question: I have a 64 bit SunBlade 100 would I need to keep both 32 bit AND 64 bit versions of software installed?
The status now is that it boots to the console and not to the CDE. I think I need to go back to the changed_files file that the installer produces
and check whether I need to make any changes ( it was too late last night ) otherwise , do you thing the fact that I removed the CDE SDK had any effect on the
CDE not starting?
Thanks again for you help
mit freundlichen Grssen

hello Anthony,
full installation + OEM is around 1.2Gb without the needed swap space. i
would recommend that you use the "interactive installation". to do that
you should use the CD labeled: Solaris 8 Software 1 of 2 - the cd is
bootable and you could choose either to upgrade your existing
installation or to do a fresh install.
