I've never done any 3d graphics programming and have been surveying the landscape (no pun intended, but now that I think of it.. ;). It's extremely depressing :-( Python wrappers for existing kits are typically garbage, lacking any kind of documentation, and there an astounding number of immature 3d engine projects. Soya3d looks the most promising to me because it's written native for Python. The segfaults are depressing (and the fact that the game tutorial doesn't work *at all*), of course, but I'm hoping the new rewrite will solve these problems. The only drawback I see is that I don't especially like its license, but since I am only interested in doing open source stuff for now I will put up with it if soya3d turns out to be the technical superior of its competitors.
So, can we get the pyrex code anywhere? Is it usable at all? I'm also learning 3d modeling at the moment so I can put off playing with soya for a while, but my fingers are itching to do some coding.
