Right, but the 1500 flywheel won't mate up to the early 1300 small bearing crankshaft 
as I recall.  Or will it?.  Since he said he has what appears to be a 1500 flywheel on 
his engine, I figured he had the later large bearing engine in there.

I beg to differ, my friend!  A Mk3 flywheel is flat on the surface and
the 1500 flywheel has a ridge where the pressure plate mounts.  There is
no way that a 1500 clutch kit will work on a Mk3 flywheel and
vice-versa.
