I'm working on a 16 storey residential building. The contractor wants to use 4" standpipe, resulting I need a 500 gpm @ 125 psi fire pump with the 76 psi static city water supply to provide 100 gpm at the top floor. (500 gpm @ 100 psi at the most remote hose connection and automatic standpipe is the local requirement.) 13th floor up, the static pressure is less than 175 psi. I'm planning to have two risers. An express riser off the full pump pressure and a second riser after a pressure reducing valve set at 165 psi and located at the ground floor. Both 4 inch risers will be steel schedule 10 with victaulic fittings. All sprinkler heads will be standard (not rated for high pressure). The express riser will supply the sprinklers and 2 1/2" hose connections, 13th floor and up. I will be using pressure restricting hose valves set at 100 psi for each floor. Can I take the hose connections (using pressure restricting hose valves) from 12th floor down from the same express riser? (static pressure will range from 175 to 225 psi). Anything else wrong with this set up? Piping and fittings should be okay for less than 225 psi?
