Not quite (at least in my opinion). 8.15.1.6 doesn't specify the hazard, so it would apply for both LH and OH. But for some reason, the manufacturer obtained listing for LH only. So whether you provide CC sprinklers in OH occupancies or not,you lose. But I think the lesser evil is providing it. I'm not on '07 yet, but ironing out issues for the future. If we talk about this now, maybe, by the time '07 is implemented the CC will be listed for LH and OH.

If the manufacture on list them as for use in light hazard occupancy then by the wording of 8.15.1.6 doesn't apply because you have an ordinary hazard situation. Don't you think? I've 2 other questions. (1) Tyco cut sheets state this head is used for light hazard. If the area is OH what happens? Sometimes a crawlspace is used as a mechanical room, with tanks, pumps and other mechanical equipment. (2) Sometimes a crawlspace is non-combustible with drywall attached to bottom of wood joists or TJI's, but is required to be sprinklered due to storage/mech. equipment etc. I would think 8.15.1.6 (07) should apply, but is the wording clear? In this case, I think the 36" clearance is from floor to ceiling (bottom of drywall) of the crawlspace. Right?
