We had a little go-round on "which NFPA edition do we test on" at the NICET
discussions, FYI.

At first, the knee-jerk reaction was to use the most recent. However,
looking at how the I-Codes most of us are under are back an edition, it made
a lot more sense to stay back an issue until the I-codes were adopting the
next edition.

That way, we're in a code we use, not one we're going to be using in a few
years. NICET had real-life sprinkler people look at since they test and
certify, they don't use the codes. This is the sort of thing that those of
you who weren't involved might not know otherwise, all you see is CHANGE and
of course, human's have a innate aversion, or at least resistance, to
change. Not always bad, not always good. In our case, the committee felt it
was a change for the better. Anyone who has handcalc'd some of the advanced
hydraulics questions can see a change could be for the better!

Not quite (at least in my opinion). 8.15.1.6 doesn't specify the hazard, so
it would apply for both LH and OH. But for some reason, the manufacturer
obtained listing for LH only. So whether you provide CC sprinklers in OH
occupancies or not,you lose. But I think the lesser evil is providing it.
I'm not on '07 yet, but ironing out issues for the future. If we talk about
this now, maybe, by the time '07 is implemented the CC will be listed for LH
and OH.

It's only in 2007. If the manufacture on list them as for use in light
hazard occupancy then by the wording of 8.15.1.6 doesn't apply because you
have an ordinary hazard situation. Don't you think?
