The oil and gas industry usually stick with NFPA requirements, but in Qatar,
where I work, there is a weird mix of local and British standards on
everything else.  The local authorities are starting to move into NFPA regs,
but its a slow process.  Sometimes you will have to take what you can get,
like using LPCB approval instead of UL or FM for things like wiring,
condiut, and pipe.
