There are quite a few parameters that need to be in place to apply Scheme A. But, with those satisfied, you do essentially ignore the overhead demand / balance you'd normally encounter.
Anytime I've applied Scheme A for rack set ups, it's also been fed from it's own riser, or an adjacent system - as the AHJ has allowed. So, as long as you're good to go on the barriers and other parameters, get the 8.0's to push 50psi each and you're golden. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris Cahill Sent: Wednesday, July 01, 2009 10:35 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Scheme A NFPA 30 Don't do NFPA 30 designs very often and this struck me as peculiar. '08 - 16.6.1.6 and .7 clearly says to me anyway we don't have to calc the in-racks and overhead simultaneously. Seems a significant departure from normal. So I am reading this right? My only thought is there are so many heads in the rack with a barrier we wouldn't expect the ceiling heads to operate? I do see the option when you leave out the barrier we are back to normal balancing. Chris Cahill, P.E.
