I have alluded to the this situation before and got some vague answers. There is an engineer involved and he has answered this question with "comply with 13". In an effort to make sure that what we are doing is correct, I would really like to discuss this issue with someone who has experience with the classification and definition of proper protection within a conveyor system that is obviously outside the scope of NFPA #13.
The typical conveyors are 3'-3'-6" wide and only a few are doubled up vertically. This is a brand new state of the art 1st of its kind Baggage Handling System that will supposedly be duplicated throughout the country in the coming months and years. Please contact me off forum if need be to discuss this properly. Greg McGahan Operations Manager Living Water Fire Protection 1160 McKenzie Road P.O.
