Actually, there is no need for the test header on a fire pump- IF you have
standpipe FHVs, hydrants or other means for testing the flow.

And with a flow meter installed, you only have to flow water and measure it
every -3 yrs? Sorry, I didn't commit #25 to memory, but its less than
annually.

IF you end up with a storz FDC and Storz test header, I'd make signage so
obvious- never mind, it won't matter. They'll hook LDH up to the first storz
they come to and start pumping. Especially if, in the background, something
is happening in a place where they'd have the need for 3 FDCs on a 12"
manifold- I assume a complex with a lot of nasties in quanitity. Like those
adjacent chem. Plants and refineries that look like if one goes, there goes
Delaware. And NJ and eastern PA.

It sounds to me that you need to confirm with the owners that that is in
fact what they really want for the pump test header. It's a unique enough
configuration that one would think the owner has a plan for the use of these
connections as test outlets. Then again, the original design may have been a
goof-up - either by the owner or the designer.

I would recommend you assume nothing. Verify they have a plan for testing
through these connections.

As to the validity in relation to NFPA documents - I don't think there is a
problem, as long as there is a means to actually use these storz connections
for full-flow testing of the pump.

Each storz has a 6" butterfly control valve. The plan also includes a flow
meter that is returned to the storage tank. As I said, this is just me
copying the design done by another for this customer and I've learned not to
question a lot of what was done beforehand...
