What they are considering is that the water sources mentioned are only
supplying the sprinkler systems, they are not supplying any stand pipes or yard
hydrants.

So if your tank or pond or pool is connected to any hose standpipes in the
building or are serving any hydrants on the underground loop, you can't apply
that text excluding the hose allowance.

Subject: Hose Allowance

I could have sworn that pumps taking suction from a pond qualified for
eliminating inside and outside hose allowance per NFPA 13 02'

11.2.3.1.3 An allowance for inside and outside hose shall not be required where
tanks supply sprinklers only.
11.2.3.1.4 Where pumps taking suction from a private fire service main supply
sprinklers only, the pump need not be sized to accommodate inside and outside
hose. Such hose allowance shall be considered in evaluating the available water
supplies.

Seems like it's only private fire service mains and tanks. Can someone set me
straight?
