IT is applicable. In a 13 system, the residential option is now a
hybrid where we apply both spray sprinkler criteria (ie small room)
and residential then apply the most demanding.

Ben,
I don't know that we've missed that reference to SSU/SSP in
8.6.2.1.2. I would hope that most of those who'd answered had
reviewed the information that generated the question in the first
place, which is in 11.3.1.3, item (2). That clearly suggests that
the allowance for the discharge to be calculated the same as it
would for a small room is acceptable for residential sprinklers as
well.

You guys have all missed a major issue with using 8.6.2.1.2 in 2002
or 2007.
The small room rule is for SSU and SSP heads ONLY, not residential
heads.
So if you're using LFII residential heads in a 256 sqft room, but
you're
spaced 10' off two walls, you have to use the 40 GPM figure, not
25.6.
