Owners cert, should be the engineers responsibility before the contractor ever see's the job! Anyone ever seen that in bid doc's?? Even if they filled it out, do you think anyone has ever given all of the info that will actually let you determine what is going to be a correct sprinkler design? I always love those less than %5 or 10% plastics or encapsulated vs. non-encapsulated, single double multi row or moveable racks. The there is always, that's right always! The little note in the Arch. Doc's that say's all questions must be submitted in writing before 4Pm on xx-xx-2011. Heck it's usually 7 days after that before we even see bid doc's, and on those few occasions where we were in time to submit a owners cert to the Eng/Arch, we've never gotten one back. We usually get back a comment to the GC from the Arch, to bid per NFPA 13 or some other such garbage.
I'd like to add a Div. 21 definition of "Owners Certificate" 1. This is a document which has been completed by the Owner, with the input of their Arch, Engineer, underwriter or AHJ to determine the proper requirements of the design of the fire suppression systems. 2. Failure to provide complete or correct information on this document, does not transfer any responsibility of design to any other party. 3. A completed owners cert. can be found in Div. 21 Section xx-xx under Scope of work. Now if I just won POWER BALL last night all my dreams will come true! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard Carr Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2011 8:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: top five list One that should be near the top of the list, "owner's certificate", I hope I live long enough to see one.
