Would the 2" Tyco Domestic Shutoff valve work? I don't think I have the proper
name, and you'd need one per building, but that's not an issue in my mind, I
own some tyco stock :)

This, of course, wouldn't relieve SOMEONE being responsible for determining the
adequacy of the existing tank and perhapsre-connecting the domestic up near the
top of the tank, above the amount needed to be reserved for sprinkler, as one
POSSIBLE solution. Sure hope they have non-combustible construction as an aid
to keeping the sprinkler demand down to a manageable volume due to the
relatively small size of the tank.

I find it curious that if you have a 4-story residential building and design it
to NFPA 13R, you would have to include the domestic demand but take the same
building and add a garage in the basement and commercial space on the ground
floor and now you don't have to include the domestic demand because NFPA 13
does not require it.

In such buildings with a combined water entry, I've been adding the domestic
demand in accordance with the guidelines of 13R.

Why are you asking since it is normally not included in the calculations.
