You gotta keep reading ... following the section you referenced (I think you 
typo'd and left out the 1 after 9.2), is section 9.2.1.3.3.2 which states that 
when the ceiling is supporting the flexible hose drop it must meet certain 3rd 
party standards.  That the ceiling must conform to the referenced ASTM 
requirements is also part of the listing limitations of all flexible hose 
connections.

To all, both the Flex Head and the Victaulic brand are UL listed and FM
approved for installation in fire sprinkler systems. Thus as long as you are
installing per the manufacturers instructions then you are good.
 NFPA 13 section 9.2.3.3.1 Says " shall be installed in accordance with
their listing" so if you have followed the listing for the brand you are
using then you are in accordance with NFPA 13 and there should be no further
requirements.
