To reconnect a player to an account.

The PIN is not a password. It isn't even unique.

It is like the PIN for a bluetooth or other connection: it is used to
attach a player to an account.

Ie, two people unbox players at the same time and go to SN to set them
up.

How do you tell who is who? The IP numbers may not match (people may
or may not be behind NAT firewalls, and may or may not use proxy
servers). So no using that.

The PIN is a simple and secure: each device asks for a pin, each
receives a different random number from SN and gives it to the user.
The user then completes the link by entering it on the web page.

After setup the pin is useles.. unless you are setting up again.
