Hi, all.
There is a Rayovac 4.5 V battery with the same connectors and velcro that we
need that is commonly used by PCs. I got one in a local PC supply store.
It is Rayovac # 845. It is longer than our battery, so I let the end hang
over the edge of the motherboard, and it's working fine.
Something else that I found: a weak-but-not-quite-dead battery will give you
long long pauses between the various stages of boot-up. My theory is there
is just enough juice left to send an instruction, and then it has to rest
and recuperate for a while before the next instruction. The new battery
shortened my boot-up time a lot.
