I'm getting out of my depth here. I don't think I've ever booted my StarMax off the system CD-ROM. Why would one drive work and another not work? What about regular (non-system) CD's? Would some programs work from the CD and some not?
BTW, is Motorola still honoring the 5 year warranty on these machines? It occurred to me that I have not yet had it for 5 years. I don't remember the details of the warranty and what's covered; maybe it's still under warranty. I've had the CD fixed under warranty once, the 1 year-they-come-to-you-warranty. It was just the CD door, not the actual drive that time.
