        Well, Linda, as an experienced eBay buyer, I have to say, if 
you got a good one at a good price and it worked, count your 
blessings, because buying used equipment off eBay is fraught with 
hazards and risk.

        It's really a simple formula. You can buy new from a 
reputable dealer, pay more, and have a return/ refund option. Or take 
your chances out in the wild, wild west of eBay. Both have their 
merits. Just don't fall into the assumption that everything you buy 
on eBay will be a good deal.

        If I had recommended a deal on eBay and it didn't work when 
it arrived you would have hated me.  But I can recommend a new Apple 
product with confidence, knowing it will probably work when you get 
it.

        On the other hand, I don't want to contemplate a world 
without eBay. eBay is the world's most fantastic invention for moving 
hardware or whatever from those who don't need/want it to those who 
do. I hope it never goes away.
