I personally have no experience with Maxtor, but I've just heard bad things said of 
Maxtor - one guy had a Maxtor die, and each time he gets it replaced, the replacement 
dies (reported at www.harddrivehell.com). I still wonder if he has a problem with his 
power supply or something that's causing this damage. There's also apparent evidence 
that the Maxtor hard disc driver is defective.

Likewise, he believes Quantum drives to be just as bad now that they've been taken 
over by Maxtor.


I'm not personally verifying any of this information, but I just feel concern that 
keeping quiet might lead to a bad decision and lost data. *shrug*
