No, Tim, the problem is well known.

The Solo in independent mode is too fast for whatever serial port in built
in the Amiga, if the 
processor of the Amiga is slow. 

They recommend a PPC, and it will MAYBE work with a 68060.

Since I only have a 68040/33, I have decided that I have thrown 200 quids in
the gutter, and shelved the Solo.
