I've installed Stormix Hail on a Compaq laptop. It's annoying that hail do
not automatically power off the laptop which surprises me because Rain
did.
Including soundmod was a very good thing, especially seeing that my
ess1869 soundcard is supported. Unfortunately only midi is working,
dmesg output says:
"S.B. 3.01 detected OK
ESS chip ES1869 detected
sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config: error?"
How can I find where is the conflict or try to make it work by hand? I
suspect it could be the PCMCIA card which conflict with, but I can't be
sure, because I was not able yet to make the networking work. Before
Storm (on Caldera and Mandrake) there was no problem.
I tried to solve these things (sound and power off) recompiling the kernel,
but it gave me 2 errors, because of the sound drivers and modules. Also,
I couldn't find "automatically power off" at Advanced Power Management.
I must add, in rain, recompiling went perfectly.
Any help would be welcomed, I couldn't find any revealing documentation
regarding Stormix specific issues.
