and chance I could use an Apple Cinema Display with ADC-Interface with a
Sun Rag 1g? The Sun Ray has DVI output and Dr. Bott offers an DVI-to-ADV
adaptor. Basically this should work. I am just wondering how powering on
the monitor would work. The Cinema Display has this touch button, that
sends a signal to the Mac telling it to give main power to the monitor.
I doubt the Sun Ray will do that.
Any idea or experience? We are migrating from Macs to Sun Rays and have
a few Cinema Displays that we would like to use with the new Sun Rays.
I don't believe I have ever hooked up a 1g with the ADC to DVI
converter, but I have done the ADC->DVI conversion as well as the
DVI->ADC conversion on a whole slew of different hardware and never
experienced a problem. (I have hooked up the new Cinema Displays with
the DVI connector to a 1g with no problems.)
On powering up the monitor, the DVI to ADC converter is just a really
expensive power supply for the monitor, and it will do for the monitor
whatever the Mac used to do.
I wouldn't be concerned if I were you.
