Since I prefer Linux, I have no idea if the GDM coming with JDS already 
includes the SRSS patches.
Upstream the gdmdynamic feature is included since GDM 2.8 
But I don't think that downgrading GDM from 2.6 to 2.4 is a problem. 

The situation is different with recent Linux distributions where 
downgrading from 2.18 or 2.20 to 2.4 is not feasible. (Gnome can be a beast 
with respect to library versions)
