Ok, Serial ports could cause an issue -- The loader and early bits do have
code to talk to the serial ports, in case you need serial console.
I don't think incorrect BIOS settings should hang the boot process, but I
could be wrong. I think this is a FreeBSD problem though, rather then
something pfSense specific. If you have time, I'd definately recommend
filing a PR on it.
