I'm not sure myself... But my Amstrad PC1000s both use V30s at 12MHz (at least,
they did last time I took the top off...  maybe the leprechauns changed them
for a pair of 4004s judging by the sudden decline in speed - I think I mucked
up the interleave on the HDDs...), and are touted as '8086-compatible
machines'.  Certainly, I've never seen a V20 in any machine.  My Psion palmtop
(Series 3 - the Siena to be precise) uses a V30H at 4.77MHz (the H is a
low-power (I did remember the term, one of these TTL/CMOS acronyms) version -
it runs at 3 volts, draws maybe 5 mAh), which addresses 1Mb of RAM and runs a
16-bit multi-tasking OS.
