My route was this:
- Read the workflow page Aaron mentioned
- Create a github account
- Read the various help pages github offers
- Read the Pro Git book (available as HTML on http://progit.org/book/ )
to go from "follow the recipes" to "know how to use the tool".
It's several day's time of investment to go through all the material,
but seriously worth it.
