>Actually looks like he has a lot of victories against those ranked ahead of
him .. And beat most more than they beat him .. And his losses seem to occur
at the end of the collegiate season when he should have been tired .. By the
middle to end of the Europeean season he was dominating all ahead of him
save Greene when everyone was at their best heading into the games .. But
hey I don't get a vote ... But it doees look to me as if he deserved a place
in the top 10 .. Looks like he had Campbell's number .. Beat Boldon enough
.. Split with Chambers .. BEat Obikwelu in their meeting .. Split with Brian
Lewis .. And was clearly better than Montgomery and Brokenburr who couldn't
beat anybody .. That takes care of everybody in the top 10 except Greene and
Drummond .. And Drummond was ranked woefully low .. Just an opion .. But I
did bring my facts to the table ..>>
Funny thing Conway is that according to Garry, he showed you a list of people
Bernard lost to. (even though he told me in an earlier post about Kirkland vs
Couch that head to heads and times don't even make up 50%. Go figure???) Now
that you've also shown the list who he beat, I guess Garry can hide behind
the ol its the big meets that count.
In defense of the mens 100. I ask, if Bernard is to make the top 10 in the
100, who do we take out?
>How about Danny McCray as a candidate for #10 .. Ran throughout the European
circuit running consistently 4th through 6th and actually had a 3rd place
finish in Gateshead .. If you're going to count abbreviated seasons then
perhaps JaWarren Hooker would deserve a look at the spot .. Much better
times than either McCray or Mackowiak but a short season a la Johnson .. :o)
.. Course I can't find Mackowiak among any of the top meets in Europe Save
the Olympics ... And no it wasn't a vintage year in the 400 period which
makes it even more absurd that MJ was #2 in the whole world, since he is
reigning over a kingdom of mediocrity ..>
McCray is a good choice. He ran all over Europe, went to the GP final and
faired decently. He beat some of the people that are ranked ahead of him as
well. Hooker ran great times but lost to McCray in all of their meetings.
Than again head to heads and times don't really count according to TNF.
If your going to be ranked in the top 10 in the world than I believe athletes
shoud line up against the best and prove it. Are we going to punish the
American 400 runners because they are in a dominant event in their country
and can't line up in the OG's because of it? I see its better to stay at home
all summer (if you are from a country with no real depth in a distance),
prepare for the big meet you basically automatically get into, run decent,
sit back and wait for your world ranking to come in. No wonder Boldon never
gave up that Trinidad passport haha
