There just isn't enough data by enough people over enough time to fairly compare the marks to events with decades of history. Having said that, Ivanova deserves very good consideration on the AOY ballot, simply becuase she has an undefeated 5-race season, winning both WC and Goodwill. The "is it relevant?" question applies even more strongly to women's steeple times, with the result that there won't be any steeplechasers on the AOY ballot. gh
